Last year we had the pleasure of Tom Ludvigson coming along to do a live analog synth demo which was certainly one of the highlights of the show. I asked Tom to come along again this year and he’s going to be rocking a duet with another of NZ’s finest keyboard players, Alan Brown. These guys are serious synth players with great collections of gear so I was surprised and excited when Tom told me that this year they would be doing a duet using the new Korg Monotron!

This tiny analog monster has one of the simplest architectures of any synth so it’s going to be really exciting to see what these 2 masters of the synth come up with on the day. I’m a firm believer in the creative spirit and hate any elitist notion that you need to be using a specific bit of kit to be taken seriously as a musician/producer/whatever. No doubt this will be an interesting and exciting performance.
